Vivek Chary
Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer | AI Automation Architect
I design and ship intelligent systems that bridge hardware and AI — real-time firmware, protocols, and automation your team can run in production. From microcontrollers and drivers to OpenClaw, n8n, and client-ready workflows.
Outcomes, not buzzwords
Signals for recruiters and for teams evaluating AI & firmware delivery.
Hardware depth, automation breadth
I’m an embedded firmware engineer at home in C, C++, Python, RTOS, device drivers, and hardware–software integration — with deep work on CAN, Ethernet, and real-time communication.
I also architect AI automation systems — OpenClaw AI, n8n workflows, Discord and SaaS integrations — for real business processes. I care about scalable, observable systems whether they run on a MCU or in your ops stack. Based in Montreal; independent portfolio — employers under Experience match my résumé.

Real problems, measurable impact
Deep cuts from Prime Air, industrial RF, and IoT security — problem → solution → impact → tech. Wording reflects real scope; customer names where appropriate.
Prime Air · Comms & VMS
Vehicle management & ground-link firmware
- Problem
- Autonomous aircraft need deterministic paths between vehicle management, radios, and ground — with safety partitions that do not cross-contaminate under fault.
- Solution
- Linux-centric comms stack with Ethernet, CAN, and NIC drivers on QorIQ / ST32, plus tightly scoped interfaces to DSP blocks and peripherals (ARINC 653-style thinking).
- Impact
- More stable end-to-end data exchange and lower effective latency in flight-critical loops; smoother integration of new sensors through disciplined driver boundaries.
- Tech
- C/C++, embedded Linux, CAN, Ethernet, NIC, Lauterbach, Agile CI/CT.
SYNQ · Imaging edge
Smart surveillance & EAS camera pipeline
- Problem
- Retail and security SKUs need reliable capture, transport, and OTA — on tight silicon and power budgets in the field.
- Solution
- End-to-end video pipelining on ESP32 / PSoC6: sensor bring-up, SerDes, capture timing, bootloaders, and remote diagnostics.
- Impact
- Higher uptime and image consistency in deployed gates and media devices; safer upgrades without bricked fleets.
- Tech
- C, RTOS/bare-metal, SPI/I2C/UART, WiFi, BLE, LoRaWAN, MQTT, HTTP.
Cattron · Industrial RF
Multi-MCU industrial remote platform
- Problem
- Material-handling remotes must stay responsive and safe across master, slave, and radio MCUs — with field updates that never strand a cab.
- Solution
- Architecture and drivers for real-time RF protocols, low-power sleep ladders, and OTA + config orchestration across the MCU mesh.
- Impact
- Predictable control under RF stress; faster qualification of new RF front-ends and safer rollout patterns for operations teams.
- Tech
- C/C++, SPI/I2C/UART/GPIO, multi-MCU, OTA, embedded Linux, Docker.
Drivers · Silicon bring-up
NIC, CAN & Ethernet hardening
- Problem
- Processor families differ in how they expose DMA, PHY quirks, and bus contention — “it works on the eval board” is not enough for production drones.
- Solution
- Low-level driver work on QorIQ and ST32-class parts: clean HAL boundaries, error recovery, and comms paths tuned with lab captures.
- Impact
- Fewer silent link drops under load; repeatable performance signatures for CI and flight-test sign-off.
- Tech
- C/C++, Ethernet, CAN, NIC, Linux kernel space adjacency, Lauterbach.
IoT · Connectivity fabric
Secure multi-radio device integration
- Problem
- Security products must mix BLE provisioning, WiFi backhaul, and LoRaWAN without opening attack surfaces or draining batteries overnight.
- Solution
- Unified driver + messaging layer tying radios to MQTT / XMPP / HTTP with consistent credential rotation and backoff policies.
- Impact
- Stable cloud attach rates in noisy retail RF environments; cleaner field diagnostics when links flap.
- Tech
- ESP32, PSoC6, ARM, MQTT, HTTP, BLE, WiFi, LoRaWAN.
Validation · Tooling
Lab-grade bring-up & CI/CT loop
- Problem
- Firmware teams lose weeks when lab evidence does not match what CI sees — especially across industrial and aerial environments.
- Solution
- Repeatable harnesses: Lauterbach trace plans, scope/signal-analyzer checkpoints, and Git + Docker pipelines that publish artifacts per board rev.
- Impact
- Shorter mean time to root-cause on timing bugs; higher confidence before OTA or flight campaigns.
- Tech
- Lauterbach, JTAG, oscilloscopes, Jenkins/CI, Docker, Agile.
